Silent Hill 2 possible spring shooting & Carmody statements

'VIDEO SHILLED THE MOVIE STAR: From the try, try again file, Canadian producer Don Carmody (Chicago) isn’t letting the spotty track record of movies made from video games slow him down.

Carmody, who shepherded the filming of Resident Evil: Afterlife (aka the 3-D Resident Evil 4) last fall, is set to start filming Silent Hill 2, likely in late spring.

“We always run the risk of the wrath of (video) gamers,” Carmody tells us.

“We were getting hate mail when they found we were changing the central character to a woman. But when they saw the movie, they appreciated it more.”

The first Silent Hill grossed about $50 million in 2006.'

So there is a chance like I hoped that they will start filming in the mid-year and not in fall after the release of RE: Afterlife. About the statements... Ok... Predictable.

 The thing that intrigued me though is that "Carmody... is set to start filming Silent Hill 2". Is it just me or can it actually be [mis]interpreted [?] in a way that it says "Carmody will be the director of Silent Hill 2"?! Maybe it's not clearly written but since it doesn't mention a director...? Is there any chance? 'Cause as fas as I know he is the producer. :? :!:

Interesting news on the whole nonetheless... :| :)

Silent Hill 2 possible spring shooting & Carmody statements

The fact that this guy is even involved in it, no matter how minor his role can possibly ever be, worries me. But I'm just bitter from the disasters they call RE2 and RE3 movies.

“We always run the risk of the wrath of (video) gamers,” Carmody tells us.

Which is why you should do your research and see what the gamers want, and take the time to truly understand a franchise before obliterating it. Sure, you can throw in twists, but when you start throwing in utter BS that the fans complain about and you continue another movie off of what they hated... eh, I should stop here.

Yeah, I guess... :|

You see... I can't make sense of what he's saying. He just seems to be so weird. On the one hand, he says: "Yeah, we may recieve the wrath, I know..." - on the other hand: "We need to make it more accessible..." :? It's like he knows how it should be done correctly but is willing to sacrifice some quality or whatever for the shake of serving commersialism and incresing the movie's chance of being more profitable (?). Not all movies are meant to be blockbusters or for everyone to see and enjoy/understand (plus most commercial movies are over-hyped pieces of sh*t)... I really don't know what to make of his statements. That's a reason why I want to see how this movie will turn out... Will they mess it up again (or worse... worse) or actually try to improve it stepping on the things they got right...? They should pass the movie to the fans to edit/make in an idealistic world... :P And for RE they should say it just got elements from RE and that's not really it...

Sadly I'm picturing this to have PH making a return pulling off matrix-like moves while Sharon is being chased by zombies (not demons because the majority of people don't understand the meaning of demons, so zombies are more widely accepted) and she throws a samurai sword up into the air, then pulls out a desert eagle, aims in slow-mo, shoots the sword, about 9-30 shards come flying down pelting the zombies and killing them. Then PH pulls out his Great Knife, runs along the wall, jumps towards her, then Sharon pulls out a rocket launcher, launches rockets, and PH dices through them with his knife, slamming into her, but suddenly a force field is around her because she is the "chosen one" and a movie tie-in is suddenly made when Jet Li makes an appearance and the three of them duke it out for who the chosen one truly is while some heavy ass hardcore death metal is playing for an entire hour and a half. It ends with Sharon leading a war against machines trying to enslave the human race, while in the background a machine rises up from ashes and says "Joshua?" thus hinting at a third installment, Episode III- Revenge of the Shepherd.

Okay, my day dream, er, nightmare is over with. Every time I read what Carmody is saying this little image in my head just gets added to and grows more and more.

Mrs. Radha was interviewed for "The Crazies" and also said some things about Silent Hill and Silent hill 2. Nothing really new but I post what she said to keep up with this...

[...]

FANG: You’ve tackled aliens in PITCH BLACK, a killer croc in ROGUE, demons in SILENT HILL and now viral zombies. What would you like to fight next?

MITCHELL: Oh, I definitely wish I could go back to Silent Hill. What the hell were those things, anyway? But I wouldn’t want to fight the creatures this time; I’d want to make a family movie.

FANG: Like that SNL skit where Sigourney Weaver is dolled up like a ’50s housewife and making meatloaf, and the Alien comes homes from work after a hard day.

MITCHELL: Exactly! When we were making SILENT HILL, there would be these nice, calm monsters all over the set eating from craft service, drinking soda, having a smoke. It was nice and civilized until someone said, “Rolling.” Casual monsters, yeah. She’s in love with the monster, they live in the suburbs.

FANG: FIDO is like that.

MITCHELL: I’ve heard that. I was offered a part in FIDO, and then I didn’t do it and I heard it was great.

FANG: It is great—definitely look into the sequel. Any talk of SILENT HILL 2?

MITCHELL: There’s talk, but I haven’t heard much. I don’t believe Christoph Gans is directing again. I think if I came back, it would be fun to do so as the Dark Rose, but I don’t have any real info at this point.

[...]

FANG: So do you have any horror projects coming up or in the works?

MITCHELL: No. I’m so sorry. My next thing is in Africa, so unless there are some rewrites I don’t know about…

Anyhow, as time goes by I get less interested in this... It looks like it's headed for a mediocre fail 'till now from what we've seen... Just spare info and nothing really clear yet. I hope we'll have some more details soon that will let us know if it's worth the wait for something better or if we should just move on and hate them. :|

I think that's the second time that Radha's mentioned that she'd like to come back as a monster.
I sort of picture "Dark Rose" to be the next "Memory of Alessa"; since it's highly likely that it's going to be an adaptation of SH3, I wouldn't doubt it if she did come back as a monster in an attempt to spare her daughter.
