How did anyone know this would be the last full mainline game that Konami ever gave us?

I played a bit of it recently. But then changed to Uncharted.
My last save was the final fight against the police woman.

It took me years to get into it, as the gameplay is so awkward.
Like, I remember a puzzle in a theater, where you had to play out a scene and the controls were a pain to get to grips with. You had to make rain water appear and hit a cymbal. You also kept on running into the same type of creatures.
I generally enjoyed the story just enough to get through it, but the lack of boss fights just made it feel hollow and kind of bland. It felt like the game had low production values compared to the other games released beforehand.
